Figure Skating Skills

Figure Skating Instructional classes provide a fun and safe skating experience and promote physical fitness in a group atmosphere.

Classes are offered to figure skaters from beginner through advanced levels. We offer a variety of progressive skating skills, transitions, spins and jumps — all of which build on the previous skill, providing skaters a strong foundation of all elements. These levels will be taught in a positive and interactive group format. Instructors will focus on quality and mastery of skills.

On-Ice Skills Classes

Every Saturday and Wednesday the skills class will rotate between Power, Edge and Ice Dance.

Dance: Using specialized techniques, this class focuses on increasing the skater’s musical awareness, timing, along with their edge control and skating quality.

Power: Using a mixture of upbeat music and drills, this class is built to help skaters increase on ice stamina.

Edge: This class is a way to help skaters strengthen their on-ice skating skills, steps, turns and patterns used for testing and competition.

Wednesday Times:  5:15pm to 5:45pm

Saturday Times: 11:15am to 11:45am

On-Ice Skills classes will be used for Holiday Show Rehearsal only Oct 22nd to Dec 10th.

Off-Ice Skills Classes

Classes will alternate between the following off-ice training…

Strength & Jump:

Core strength, stamina, proper warm up and cool down is critical for injury prevention for all athletes. This off-ice class is designed to teach proper balance, control, vertical launch, and alignment for athletes, while simultaneously building core, leg and upper body strength. The athletic demands on today’s figure skater’s must be balanced with equal and strategically planned off-ice programming. Basic jump technique is crucial for all levels and this class will be tailored to the needs of all participants.

Circuit:

This class focuses on building the athletes strength and stamina off ice. The use of circuits exposes the skater to a variety of movements and strength building exercises.

Stretch:

Using key components from Yoga, Pilates, and Ballet, this class will give your athlete the tools needed to increase their mobility in a safe yet effective way. The most beautiful and iconic figure skating movements require a flexible athlete, this class will ensure our athletes are increasing flexibility, alignment, and strength.

Tuesday  and Thursday Times:  5:20pm to 5:50pm
