Youth Learn to Play FAQ’s:

Typically, children are between five and eight years old when they enter the Learn To Play Program although some children as young as four years of age can learn how to skate in one of our programs. If your child is other than eight, we also offer a Late Start program.

Sno-King has two ways your for your child to learn to skate:

  • Learn to Play Hockey 1 – This portion of the Learn to Play program provides the opportunity to learn skating skills while incorporating some very basic fundamentals for playing hockey.
  • Learn to Skate – This is a program that is taught by professional figure skating instructors and provides sound fundamental skating instruction for both beginners and those that want to improve their skating.

Periodically Sno-King offers a one-day Try Hockey Free program where a child can experience what it is like to be on the ice in hockey gear.

Depending on their age and ability, players can move on to a team. Recommendations will be made by your Learn to Play Hockey 1 & 2 instructors as to what is the next step for you.

Sno-King has several Learn to Play programs throughout the year and players may join at any time with a pro-rated fee. The length of each program varies.
