Aspire  Academy

Transitions to more serious figure skating from Pre-Freeskate to Freestyle 6, learning increasingly difficult jumps, spins, foot-work and spiral sequences, turns and edgework, our classes prepare skates for higher level U.S. Figure Skating. Moves in the Field, Freestyle, and Ice Dance tests.

ASPIRE is a comprehensive package program designed to help transition the beginner figure skater from Learn to Skate group classes to U.S. Figure Skating introductory membership. The safe, supportive group training environment motivates skaters to acquire new skills, develop good practice habits and learn the fundamentals of off-ice training alongside their peers.

Through the development of athleticism and artistry, skaters build a solid skill foundation that drives success on and off the ice. ASPIRE is designed to help skaters learn to train like a figure skater. The levels are designed to give participants a strong foundation upon which skaters can then choose to pursue a recreational or competitive path. Lessons from the ASPIRE program will help you become the best skater you can be!

Aspire Classes

The U.S. Figure Skating Aspire program helps beginning figure skaters make the transition from learn to skate group classes and teach young athletes and their families what it means to be a figure skater. This class is tailored to the needs of the athletes with a focus on edge quality, control, jump and spin basics, artistry, and introduction to moves in the field. Aspire athletes begin to learn how important character development is to their on-ice development through the 6 words that represent what skating teaches all of us:

Attitude, Sportsmanship, Perseverance, Integrity, Respect and Effort.

Each Aspire class includes a 45 min on ice session (with occasional free time), followed by 15 min of off ice training. Please bring water, athletic shoes, appropriate athletic attire, and your hair neatly pulled back.

Next Steps: Aspire Plus pending coaches’ recommendation. Aspire covers elements formerly in Basic 6, Pre-Free Skate, and Free Skate 1. Aspire Plus will cover from elements included in Free Skate 2 and up. Skaters are welcome to join all of our advanced skills classes.
