TRY HOCKEY FREE – SNOQUALMIE

Adult Learn to Play (ALTP) Try Hockey Free provides adults an opportunity to experience playing hockey for the first time. Coaches and volunteers will be on the ice to assist in learning the basics. This event is designed for adults that have never tried hockey before. No previous skating or hockey experience necessary.

Full hockey equipment is not provided nor is it required but if you have it we encourage you to wear it.

The recommended equipment is:

  • Skates which will be provided.
  • Skaters must bring a helmet (bike or similar helmet).
  • Knee/elbow pads optional but highly encouraged.

Looking to join an adult beginner hockey program near you? Our Adult Learn to Play Hockey program is designed specifically for new adult players who want more than just drills — you’ll gain real team experience in a supportive environment.

Whether you’ve never stepped on the ice or you’re returning to hockey after years away, our experienced coaches teach the fundamentals from the ground up. This is a true adult beginner hockey program — no prior skating or hockey experience required.

Many new adult players want the excitement of playing on a team — and we deliver. You’ll practice game situations, learn positioning, and build confidence so you’re ready to join our adult recreational hockey league.

Class Descriptions & More Information

Start your hockey journey here! This beginner-friendly class is for adults 18+ with no prior skating or hockey experience. Learn the fundamentals: forward/backward skating, stopping, puck control, passing, and shooting.

Prerequisites: No skating or hockey experience required. Full gear is required by the 5th week of class. Skates and helmet are requried for first day of class. If you need skates we will provide rental skates for weeks 1-4

Take your skills to the next level. This class builds upon ALTP 1, focusing on advanced edgework, stickhandling, shooting, and game situations. Drop-in registration available after the session starts.

Prerequisite: Requires completion of Adult Hockey 1. Full gear is required for this class; Sno-King does not provide any gear. 

Equipment Information

Full hockey equipment is not required until the 5th session. For the first four sessions, players must bring:

  • A helmet
  • Hockey gloves
  • A hockey stick

If players do not own skates, rental skates are available at the rink. Beginning in the 5th session, players will need full equipment. You have two options: Rent equipment, or Purchase equipment from Elevate Sports and receive a player discount.

Sno-King Ice Arenas do not offer makeups, credits, refunds or carryovers for no-shows, cancellations or missed classes within a session.

Due to the progressive nature of the class, registration for Adult Learn to Play 1 is not allowed after the second week of classes. Adult Learn to Play 2 classes and up are open for registration over the whole session.

  • Payment for a session is due prior to the first class in the session.
  • Sno-King Ice Arenas do not offer makeups, credits, refunds or carryovers for no-shows, cancellations or missed classes within a session.
  • If a program is cancelled by Sno-King Ice Arena’s , participants will be offered a full refund or account credit for the remaining dates in the session.
  • ​Cancellations prior to a series beginning are 100% refundable if more than 10 days in advance.
  • Cancellations prior to a series beginning are 50% refundable if more than 24 hours in advance.
  • Cancellations within 24 hours or during a series will not be refunded.
  • Sno-King Ice Arena’s will not be offering make up classes.
  • Classes may be combined based on enrollment numbers at the discretion of the program director to ensure the best experience for skaters.

Adult Learn to Play 1 participants weeks 1-4 need to bring a helmet and skates if they have them. Rental skates are available. On week 5 participants need to be in full gear.

Adult Learn to Play 2  Full gear is required for this class; Sno-King does not provide any gear.
